Bennett staying in Presque Isle — for now | Print |

    PRESQUE ISLE — Jim Bennett, one of two candidates vying for the position of Brunswick town manager, will remain city manager of the Star City — at least for now — following Brunswick’s decision to hire John Eldridge.
    “They opted to go with Eldridge, who’s served as Brunswick’s finance director and was interim town manager. They chose to go local,” said Bennett, prior to Monday night’s City Council meeting.
    Bennett said for now he’ll continue as Presque Isle’s city manager.

Historical Society receives grant | Print |

    PRESQUE ISLE — The Presque Isle Historical Society recently received a $1,000 grant check and certificate from Historic New England.
    The presentation was made Sept. 3 during a gathering at The Aroostook Medical Center’s McCain Conference Room. Making the presentation for HNE was Peggy Konitzky.
    “One of Historic New England’s primary goals is the preservation of cultural resources. In 1910, William Sumner Appleton founded the Society for the Preservation of New England Antiquities, known today as Historic New England,” said Kim Smith, treasurer and spokesperson for the Presque Isle organization.

New remote weather station a tool for farmers

    THE AROOSTOOK FARM in Presque Isle is home to a new remote weather station. Funded by a grant from the Maine Potato Board, the device is battery-powered with solar panels for recharging.
