FORT FAIRFIELD — The Frontier Fish and Game Club, located on Monson Pond, hosted a youth fishing derby June 18 with 50 taking part to try to catch the largest brook trout.

EIGHT-YEAR-OLD JEREMY Thibeault won the $250 grand prize in the 12 years old and under category at the Frontier Fish and Game Club’s youth fishing derby held June 18 at Monson Pond in Fort Fairfield.

Potato Blossom Festival hosts new eating competition

FORT FAIRFIELD — For nearly 70 years, thousands of visitors have descended upon Fort Fairfield in mid-July to enjoy the Maine Potato Blossom Festival and its nearly 100 family-friendly event. Now those crowds will be invited to leave some room in their stomachs and their schedule and take part in a unique challenge of intestinal fortitude — the first ever Maine Potato Blossom Festival International Tater Tot Eating Competition on Saturday, July 16.

FORT FAIRFIELD — It took months of effort to undo the damage done by decades of downpours and snowstorms, but thanks to the talents of students and staff at Loring Job Corps, a great source of community pride has now been returned.

FORT FAIRFIELD — Two women were sent to the hospital Saturday afternoon after a driver who may have been impaired crashed into Nan’s Thrift Store, according to police.
